Comhar Chuigéal, Community Centre celebrated the opening of a new sensory room called "Dóchas & Grá" in October 2022. The room was equipped with equipment funded by Galway Rural Development and Galway County Council.
The Dóchas & Grá sensory room is a peaceful and restorative environment that is dedicated to stimulating and engaging the senses. It has equipment that can provide sensory stimulation across different sensory realms, which can be controlled by the user or their parent/carer to meet their individual needs.
Comhar Chuigéal is currently offering water sports activities for people on the autism spectrum, with plans to add more activities in 2024. The committee ensures that the activities offered are adaptable to everyone.
The sensory room is open to organisations and individuals with complex needs who would benefit from this service. The nearest public sensory room to Letter Mullen is in Galway City, which is 34.5km away.
Comhar Chuigéal will administer and supervise bookings for the room, which can be done online at www.cuigéal.ie.

Discovering the sensory room for children with additional needs was an absolute game-changer for our family.
